Volunteer Opportunities


Ways to help with the birds... cleaning, feeding, transportation and rescue.
CLEANING
Cleaning of crates and cages, dishes, and laundry​
FEEDING
Hand feeding nestlings, food preparation for older birds
TRANSPORTATION
Pick up and deliver supplies as needed​
RESCUE
Recover injured birds and assist with release of rehabilitated birds

Ways to help  for the birds... fundraising, education, leadership, events and administration.
FUNDRAISING/EVENTS
Collecting, creating, managing fundraising events virtually and in person
LEADERSHIP
We are in process of developing leadership roles including board and committee leadership.
EDUCATION
We are in process of developing programs to educate the community about what we do and the needs of wild birds in Iowa.
ADMINSTRATION
Thank you cards, data management, inventory management.

Volunteer Requirements
  • 18 years and older preferred
  • 15-18 years must have referral and parental consent
  • Must pass interview process
  • If accepted, must sign waiver and release of liability

Interested in volunteering? Please fill out the initial application form below. 
If base requirement are met, you will be invited to an IBR Volunteer orientation.
​Upon acceptance signed waiver and release will be required.

Iowa Bird Rehabilitation is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization whose goal is to recover, rehabilitate and release injured wild birds in Iowa.
